Michael married Mary Ann (Maine Ann) MCELLIGOTT, daughter of William MCELLIGOTT and Catherine O’CONNOR, on 18 Dec 1897 in Moyvane, Co. Kerry. passed away after a somewhat severe illness at’ the Redemptorist Monastery, Wendouree, on Saturday, August 22nd at. Johanna had a sister Mary Dalton who married John Sheehy, Templeathea East. The Scanlon home was located, down a boreen off the Glin road opposite Denny William Mullane’s. He died at the home of his sister Bunty only a short time after returning to live in Ireland. Through later records it has been established that the second and third child were Thomas and David.
He died on 3 Dec 1973 in Upper Dirreen, Athea, Co. It is interesting to note that Daniel Culhane, the son of Patrick Culhane and Catherine Walsh of Leitrim East, Newtownsandes was baptised on 16 August 1893 died in Colma, St. Mateo County, California on 17 August 1966 and is buried in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In 1900 at the age of 17 years old Lizzie Culhane went to the US and she travelled with her cousin James O’Connor, the eldest son of Thomas O’Connor and Mary Sheahan of Ballyguiltenane, Glin.
