That said, it's a fairly violent kid's movie. I was looking forward to the second Mothra solo film, but I was a bit disappointed. Rebirth of Mothra 1, 2, & 3. Also, this is definitely aimed straight at kids. The monster fighting is done during the day, in the wilderness, and with actually good special effects that at least attempt something beyond lasers and spark-filled explosions. Ever since I was a child I’ve been entranced…. If you tend to think they look fake and are cheesy, this won't change your mind one iota.

I could only watch the dub so that didn’t help me take this any more seriously, but it’s somewhat decent so I’m not really gonna slander it. Their designs were nice. This was too cute and too much fun to care that it's probably the Godzilla franchise's version of The Ewok Adventure. As the butterflies coalesced into one massive insect, Leo took to the air and headed back towards Desghidorah, righteous fury burning in his wake. An aging Mothra fights an off brand Ghidorah and there's a heavy-handed message about environmental conservation. This is just a heck of a lot of fun. It's my turn to pick the kaiju movie for my 4 year old and I to watch so I decided to finally watch Rebirth of Mothra, 1-3.
They modernize some stuff like the Mothra song and it actually works out pretty well. The tone of this trilogy is very different from that of Godzilla's.
I feel like I'm giving this flick half a star more than it deserves.
